Supply for COVID-19 tests is not currently meeting demand. There are things you can do to help:

• Only book a test if you or someone you care for has specific symptoms of COVID-19 (a fever, a new continuous cough, loss of taste or smell)
• To book a test(s) please go to or phone 119
• DO NOT phone NHS 111, your GP surgery or visit your Emergency Department, as they have no access to tests
• Testing centres are not walk-in – you will need an appointment and cannot be tested without one
• If you can’t get a test immediately or near to you keep trying the website address as more tests are added throughout the course of each day and you will often find that you can book a test quickly by trying again

The aim is to get your test results within 48 hours. However, if you have been awaiting your results for longer than five days and want to ask when you should receive them please contact the Coronavirus testing helpline: 0300 303 2713

How to access your GP Practice

General Practice Update

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Erewash Practices have worked hard to ensure their surgeries are as safe as possible for patients and staff.

Despite the change in rules on 19th July, when patients visit their GP Surgery or any other NHS appointments (COVID-19 vaccination centre) we will continue to require them to:

  • Wear a mask (or a full face visor, if mask exempt)
  • Socially distance
  • Use hand sanitiser

Our staff members will continue to wear PPE.

This is to protect the most vulnerable members of our patient population and workforce, some of whom are unable to receive the COVID-19 vaccination due to medical reasons.

All Erewash practices have been seeing clinically necessary patients face to face throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so. Practices will also continue to utilise the use of telephone, online and video appointments which have proved very successful, providing a more accessible service for many patients, where appropriate. We will be continuing the same approach going forwards after 19th July. This reduces the risk of spreading coronavirus and/or any other illnesses in practice waiting rooms.

Health services are currently under significant pressure. This is no different in general practice, and recently this has been increased as a number of our team are having to self-isolate in line with government guidance either because they have been in contact with someone confirmed as having Covid-19, or because they have confirmed infection themselves. At times, this is affecting up to 30% of our staff. This means that we may take a little longer than normal to answer the phone, and you may need to wait a little longer to see one of the team for an appointment.

Please be patient when dealing with our staff. We have had some patients being unkind and our staff are working very hard to meet everyone’s needs. You might not realise but we’ve treated many more patients in recent months than we have treated in previous years, and continue to see as many people as possible each day. We are here for you and will continue to be so.

We would like to thank all of our patients for their ongoing support, and hope you all understand that we are taking these actions to ensure the safety of all of our patients and staff members.

Attending a face-to-face appointment

If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering unless you have a disability or health condition which makes you exempt from wearing a facemask. Please view our policy on wearing face coverings at our practice below;

If you have a disability or condition which means you cannot wear a face covering or cannot communicate with someone who is wearing a face mask, or require other adjustments before your appointment, please let the surgery know ahead of your arrival.

Measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery.

COVID-19 Vaccination

The NHS is currently vaccinating those people who experts have agreed will benefit from it the most. A vaccination programme of this size and scale will still take some time to complete. Please be assured that everyone who needs the vaccine will be offered it. The NHS will be in touch with you when it is your turn to be vaccinated. Please don’t call us before you are invited.
